Functioneer
Terms and Conditions
Last updated 23 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses www.functioneer.co.za: people who create an account and buy tickets (“customers”) and the schools, clubs and organisations that sell tickets through it (“organisers”). The website is run by Functioneer (operated by Leson Visagie) (“Functioneer”, “we”, “us”) in South Africa.
By creating an account or buying a ticket you agree to these terms, our Cancellation Policy, Refund Policy, Delivery Policy and Privacy Policy. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
1. What Functioneer does
Functioneer is an online ticketing service. Organisers list their events and sell tickets on the website; customers buy those tickets and receive them electronically; organisers check tickets at the entrance with Functioneer's scanner. Functioneer sells tickets on behalf of the organiser of each event.
2. Who is responsible for each event
Each event is organised and run by the organiser named on its event page, not by Functioneer. The organiser is responsible for the event itself, including the programme, the venue, safety, entry rules, and any change, postponement or cancellation. Questions about an event should go to the organiser; the organiser's contact email is shown on your tickets. We will help wherever we can.
3. Your account
- You need a free account to buy tickets, so your tickets are always kept in one place.
- Give your real name and an email address you can receive mail at; tickets are sent there.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Learners and anyone under 18 may create an account and buy tickets with the permission of a parent or guardian.
- You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing functioneer.tickets@gmail.com.
4. Prices and buying tickets
- All prices are in South African rand (ZAR).
- The price shown at checkout is the total you pay. Functioneer does not add a booking fee for customers.
- When you check out, your tickets are held for 20 minutes while you pay. If payment isn't completed in that time, the hold is released and the tickets can be bought by someone else.
- Your order is confirmed only once PayFast confirms your payment. You then receive your tickets as described in our Delivery Policy.
- Online payments must be at least R5, which is the smallest amount PayFast can process.
- If a ticket was listed at an obviously wrong price, or an order was placed fraudulently, we may cancel the order and refund everything paid for it.
5. Payment
Payments are processed by PayFast, a registered South African payment provider, by card, instant EFT or the other methods PayFast offers. Your card or banking details are entered on PayFast's secure pages and never reach Functioneer. PayFast's own terms also apply to your payment.
6. Tickets and entry
- Each ticket has a unique QR code and code, and lets one person in once. After it has been scanned, copies of it are refused.
- Keep your tickets private. Only share a ticket with the person who will use it, because whoever presents it first gets in.
- Tickets may not be resold for profit or used for advertising or competitions without the organiser's written consent.
- The organiser may refuse entry, or remove anyone, under the venue's rules and the law. Such a refusal does not entitle you to a refund unless the law requires one.
7. Cancellations, refunds and cooling-off
Cancellations and refunds are covered by our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy. In short: if an event is cancelled you get a full refund, and if it is postponed you can keep your ticket for the new date or ask for a refund.
Event tickets are a leisure service provided on a specific date, so the cooling-off period in section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act does not apply to them (section 42(2) of that Act).
8. Organisers
- Organisers must give accurate event details and honour every valid ticket sold through Functioneer.
- Functioneer charges organisers a service fee of 8.5% of each paid order (minimum R3 per order), which includes payment processing. The fee is deducted from the organiser's share; free tickets cost nothing.
- Ticket income, less the service fee, belongs to the organiser and is paid to the organiser's nominated bank account.
- If an organiser cancels an event, the organiser must allow every customer to be refunded in full. Refunds are paid from the organiser's share of the ticket income.
- Organisers are responsible for how their team members (event managers and gate scanners) use Functioneer.
9. Using the website fairly
Don't misuse Functioneer: no fake or fraudulent orders, forged tickets, attempts to get into accounts or data that aren't yours, automated buying, or anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
10. Our responsibility
We work hard to keep Functioneer available and correct, and we deliver every ticket we sell. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for the events themselves, for losses caused by an organiser, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the Consumer Protection Act or other law does not allow it to be limited.
11. Privacy
We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Changes don't affect orders already placed.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If something goes wrong, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
